Jonny Lang Review!

Okay. You have two options:

Option One: Read this amazing review of last night's Jonny Lang show, published in the Edmonton Sun today. (Oh, yeah, Jonny and that other dude he was playing with. Wink!)

http://www.edmontonsun.com/2012/09/26/lang-upstages-blues-legend

Option Two: If you're too lazy to read that (which I totally understand, by the way), read these highlights:

"...on a whole other level. He was just jaw-dropping, blitheringly amazing."

"...beyond intense. His vocals weren’t just soulful, they were anguished."

"His guitar solos came from another dimension, and you could tell he felt each and every note with his entire body, not just his “guitar face,” one of the best guitar faces in show business." (OHHHH that guitar face... youtube 'Jonny Lang guitar solos' for some hilariously awesome ones, aside from the ones I've included!)

"... incredible falsetto."

"...never an insincere or clichéd moment..."

"...a formidable presence, proving himself a consummate artist and showman."

"Hey, if God can forgive anything, He certainly can forgive Jonny Lang for so thoroughly upstaging the headliner."

Insert squee here! Ha! (To be fair, Buddy Guy is a serious blues legend and he did fabulously too. But anyways, back to Jonny...)

I love it when my Jonny boy gets the credit he deserves! In fact, truly talented musicians rarely get the credit they deserve! So here's your third option: Go and pick out some lesser-known bands at your local record store and buy their albums! Destroy all your Katy Perry tunes, kids. Time to hear some real music.

LOVE a man in plaid {or a t-shirt}, jeans and Converse... add a guitar to that and Hessie needs to take a cold shower...

Having a great week so far! Hope yours is going just as awesome as mine! :)

Wedding Bells!

Eggs here. No, I didn't get married this weekend. I did, however, go up to Grande Prairie (my hometown!) for a family friend's wedding. Long story short, I grew up with this family and it was destined to be a weekend of celebrating and drinking.

Friday

Wine, wine, more wine and some champagne. I was in bed by 11. Typical!

Saturday

Wedding Day! Started off with getting my hair did. The hairstylist knew about the wedding and cuts hair for most of the people I know in GP. Go figure!

I find out I am an usher at 11am. Good thing I had my hair appointment early enough, have to be at the house for 1:15. Reported for duty. Did what I thought was a decent job and sat down as the ceremony started. Short and sweet it was.

They were lucky to have the backyard for this wedding. Perfect weather and backdrop for the occasion.
Madeline looked absolutely gorgeous! thank goodness the girl has height on her (and heels) because the groom is 6'7!

Post wedding cocktails including some wine and martinis.

Now off to the hall.

More wine, some beer and of course, Jager shots! It wasn't your typical reception though. No wedding cake and no tossing of the garter or bouquet. Felt odd but it worked for them.

I failed at taking a "first dance" photo but he was about to kiss her forehead here. (note his hand on her ass too!). He out right yelled about finally being done the dance but little did he know he had to dance with his mom next. Quite funny.
Carson and I. We later on shared a good cry. He was one of my brother's best friends. Still hits home for him too. The alcohol didn't help though...
Post Jager shot photo here. oh dear. I think there was about 15 of us toasting the bride and groom on this round.
I think this is photo attempt #5 for Jordan and I. Between him getting cut off for being too tall or one of us blinking...
Carson, myself and Colby.

Love these guys, as much as I never get to see them, I know they will be there for me. Now off to Vegas in April for Colby's wedding! Now that will be a gong show...

Negative Nelly's Photo Post

Feeling like doing a photo blog today, because life sucks and I don't really feel like writing all that much.

I'm on a bit of a Jane Austen kick these days.

And there's me with Cory (middle) and one of my besties Josh (right) doing some weird ET thing with our fingers. It made sense to us at the time. Haha, Cory was on his second pitcher of beer at that point.

And here's the adorable Ryan Gosling... no words necessary. (Ignore the weird eye thing that happens in this picture.)

And the sexy John Stamos; again, no words necessary. (Love the symbolic hot dogs in the background haha. Why yes, John, I would like a hot dog. Ahem.)

I want these shoes.

One of the best Disney movies ever. One of many!

Well, I think that's all I feel like for now.
Have a good week!
Try to stay more positive than I feel!
:)

Hectic lives

Eggs here. Long time, no post. I am in the process of moving. This involves juggling sleep, gym and packing. On top of this, money stress.

When do things start to get easy?

I can't wait for October. I think that is when I can finally slow down and focus on ME. I am actually hoping for no hockey this winter. I know, go figure. It may be the stress talking.

Anyways. I am keeping my head up and working through it, looking forward to some good times ahead!

School

I hate school.

I hate school a lot.

I'm starting my seventh and final year of university on Tuesday. Sigh. It's a little sad to think about how much of my life has gone out the window as a result of school. Don't listen to your parents, kids; school is nothing but a giant waste of time and money. Go and travel and learn about yourself first. You will have plenty of time for school later, because it's not going anywhere. Live your life while you're young; it will go so fast.

Really, it goes TOO fast. Life just flies away from you, and you don't even have time to blink before you realize that it's going. And that is really all I can think to say.

It's really time to do something about this; but what? I know what. The problem is, I don't do what I know I have to do: live.

I just feel blah today, I guess. Sorry for the negative rant. Enjoy the long weekend! :)
